London

London's integrated transport network is operated by Transport for London (TfL). It includes the 11-line London Underground, Elizabeth line, Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, trams, river services and the world's most recognisable red bus network โ€” all unified under one fare system using Oyster and contactless payment.

Getting around London

London is divided into 9 concentric fare zones. Zone 1 covers central London; zones 2โ€“6 cover Greater London; zones 7โ€“9 extend into the suburbs and Hertfordshire. A single Oyster card or contactless bank card works on every TfL service โ€” Tube, bus, tram, DLR, Overground, Elizabeth line, most National Rail journeys in London, IFS Cloud Cable Car and Thames Clippers.

Daily fare cap

Contactless and Oyster journeys are automatically capped at the daily off-peak Travelcard equivalent, so heavy users never pay more than the cap.

Operating hours

The Tube generally runs 05:00โ€“00:30, with Night Tube service on the Victoria, Central, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines on Friday and Saturday nights. Night buses run 24/7 on dozens of routes.

Accessibility

All buses are wheelchair accessible. Step-free access from street to train is available at 92 Tube stations, the entire Elizabeth line, all DLR stations, and most Overground stations.
