FAQs

How many Tube lines are there in London?

There are 11 London Underground lines: Bakerloo, Central, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria and Waterloo & City. Including the Elizabeth line, DLR, Overground, Trams and Cable Car, London has 21 named rail lines in total.

Is the Elizabeth line a Tube line?

Technically no — the Elizabeth line is a separate suburban railway that runs through central London in a Crossrail tunnel. But it is fully integrated with TfL fares and shows on the Tube map.

What's the difference between London Underground and London Overground?

London Underground runs deep-level Tube and sub-surface lines mostly in Zones 1–4. London Overground is an orbital and suburban network of National Rail-style services rebranded under TfL. Both accept the same contactless and Oyster fares.
