Thameslink Core
The Thameslink Core is the high-frequency cross-London spine that carries up to 24 trains per hour through nine central stations between St Pancras International and London Bridge, linking Bedford, Cambridge and Peterborough in the north with Brighton, Sutton and Sevenoaks in the south.
About the Thameslink Core
Modernised under the £7 bn Thameslink Programme (completed 2018), the Core operates with 12-car Class 700 trains and full ATO/ETCS signalling — the only mainline ATO operation in the UK.
Every station in the Core is in Zone 1 and accepts Oyster, contactless and TfL daily caps, making it the cheapest cross-river National Rail link for daily commuters and tourists alike.
