Dott E-Scooter

Dott (founded in Amsterdam, 2018) is one of the two remaining operators in TfL's e-scooter trial alongside Lime, following Voi's 2024 withdrawal. The dark-blue scooters share the trial's 12.5 mph cap, geo-fenced boundaries and mandatory bay parking. Dott merged with TIER Mobility in 2024, creating Europe's largest micromobility operator.

Legal reminder: Only rental e-scooters from the TfL trial are legal on London roads and cycle lanes. Private e-scooters are illegal on public land. Always 18+, UK driving licence required, no pavement riding.

FAQs

Where can I ride Dott scooters in London?

Inside the geo-fenced TfL trial zones across participating boroughs (Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Richmond, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Westminster).

Are Dott and TIER the same company?

Yes — Dott and TIER Mobility merged in May 2024, creating Europe's largest shared-micromobility operator. In London they continue to operate under the Dott brand.

How do I unlock a Dott scooter?

Download the Dott app, verify your UK driving licence, scan the QR code on the handlebar. The first 60 seconds of every ride include a mandatory safety briefing.

Do I need to park Dott scooters in a bay?

Yes — within the London trial, all rentals must end at a designated parking bay. Parking outside a bay incurs a £25 fine. Bay locations are shown live in the app.

What happens to Dott scooters at the trial zone edge?

The motor cuts out and the scooter coasts to a stop. You cannot complete a ride or park outside the zone — you must turn back to a valid parking bay.
