Thameslink
Thameslink is the only National Rail service that runs north–south straight through central London, linking Bedford, Cambridge and Peterborough with Brighton, Gatwick Airport and Kent — all without changing trains.
About Thameslink
Operated by Govia Thameslink Railway, Thameslink uses the dedicated Class 700 Desiro City fleet on the core route between St Pancras International, Farringdon, City Thameslink, Blackfriars and London Bridge — running up to 24 trains per hour at the peak through the central tunnel.
Thameslink is fully integrated with Oyster and contactless across all London zones, and is one of the fastest links between Gatwick Airport and the City (around 30 minutes to Farringdon, 40 to St Pancras).
Since the 2018 Thameslink Programme upgrade, the network has reached Cambridge, Peterborough and Horsham, dramatically expanding direct journeys across the south-east.
